This Boys Satellite, "Cast Away," Mp3 Review

This Boys Satellite

The award of the day I call, "Most Potential for Greatness," goes to This Boys Satellite, which is a solo project by Dominic Bodell. His song, "Cast Away," impressively demonstrates what many songwriters want to accomplish. Bodell puts his personal feelings out there in a creative way that can be commercially absorbed by the modern masses. In other words, he doesn't write to please the listener. He writes for himself. It just so happens that his style, lyrics, and overall presentation are quite good and suitable for a mass audience.

With it's moderately driving rock beat accented by a combination of distorted and clean electric guitars, "Cast Away," is a good listen. Bodell's vocals are strong, with a hint of breathiness. His tight harmonies also add quite a lot to the song. I'm not sure if he has a band lined up yet to perform these, but I'd probably jump aboard if given the opportunity.

As, "Cast Away," and the other tunes I sampled are listed as "demos," I am hoping for a clearer overall mix in the final product, especially in the vocals. The words in this song and others are at times a bit tough to understand. The ones I can hear are good and work well with the songs and the melodies. However, being able to clearly decipher what Bodell is singing will add an important and necessary strength to these tunes.

Listen to Bodell's, "Cast Away," and keep checking in with this artist. My guess is that some great things will come from his solo project, This Boys Satellite.
