Shy Thoro (feat. Pam Ward), "Do What I Do," Mp3 Review

Shy ThoroWith expertly crafted lyrics, an addictive hook, and a rap style that comes out as smooth as the musical groove itself, Shy Thoro’s “Do What I Do,” featuring vocalist Pam Ward, is a hip-hop gem.

Over a tight beat, this multi-talented lyricist and rapper can flow with the best. Her words are poetic, her message has style and class, and her talent is superb.

Shy’s lyrics include great verses such as, “Recently there’s been a lot of attention on me. Maybe they realize my vocab is legendary. In this state of music, it’s quite necessary. So, I can’t abuse it. Nah, unnecessary.”

Via e-mail, Shy confirmed to me that she is trying to make a positive change in commercial hip-hop music, with lyrics such as these. Her influences, industry moguls 2-Pac, Lauryn Hill, Slick Rick, and A Tribe Called Quest (just to name a few), would be proud.

Shy Thoro is onto something good with, “Do What I Do.” She’s got a great product, a great gift, and a great future ahead of her. There’s certainly a place in the hip-hop market for Shy to splash around and make some positive waves. As she says in her song, “Do What I Do,” “God blessed me with a gift. Maybe I can make a change.”
