Sarah Green, "Angels and the Devil," Mp3 Review

Sarah GreenI don't typically listen to darker, sadder music. However, not all music was meant for me. In Sarah Green's song, "Angels and the Devil," from her CD, "Emergency," it's obvious she is writing for her and her alone. That's an attribute of a songwriter I can really respect. Further, I can look past the sadness and see Green for what she truly is: a natural talent.

"Angels and the Devil" is a slow, well-produced and recorded song with great, imagery-laden lyrics. It's a pretty heavy tune about going through some extremely difficult times, but that is what songwriting is for. It's a great way to release your deepest inner thoughts, and that's exactly what Green does with a very impressive lyrical style.

Green's voice is pretty strong in "Angels and the Devil." She showcases vast dynamics ranging from low registers to high falsettos. The harmonies are also quite pleasing.

I also like the bridge in "Angels and the Devil." If I were arranging a tune like this, I would have also included that bridge or some kind of chord change earlier in the song. Even the simplest breaks between verses can really add a lot to a song.

Sarah Green jumps through my speakers with an obvious gift for lyrics, singing, and songwriting. Either through receiving feedback from critics like myself (I'll take very little credit here) or simply by continuing her songwriting journey, Green's songs are most definitely going to grow stronger. I can't wait to hear her upcoming EP.
