OTEP, "Confrontation," Mp3 Review OTEP's' song "Confrontation," from their CD The Ascension, brilliantly stirs up a political hornets' nest with its dark, entertaining, and ass-kicking sound. It makes me want to do three things: mosh, break stuff, and vote some people out of office. It also makes me want to hear much more from this Los Angeles band that I was just introduced to.
Otep Shamaya, the female vocalist/screamer for the band, is absolutely riveting and gives a powerful performance in "Confrontation." A song about politics and war, the lyrics are quite the call to arms. My favorite lines include, "It's the rich man's war, but it's the poor that fight / More capitalist crimes / More enemies than allies."
Behind Otep Shamaya's amazing lyrical delivery rocks a band that brings metal to a higher level. OTEP's musicians have created an extremely tight and heavy sound. They take their aggression out with disciplined control and thick instrumental tones, resulting in an awesomely overwhelming blend of metal greatness.
I sampled many of OTEP's songs, which were just as good and intense as this one. I'd love to review all of them, but I'm too busy repeatedly blaring "Confrontation" over my speakers and moshing by myself in my office. If you haven't heard this band, you must check them out immediately. Artist Website: www.otep.com
