Heavy Metal Poetry, "Souls for Sale," Mp3 Review

Heavy Metal PoetryMetal fans, get ready to rage. Heavy Metal Poetry's song, "Souls for Sale," off their All Hands On Deck EP, will feed your inner demon. It has all of the ingredients necessary to make a great metal song: heavily thrashing musicians with great control and instrumental tone, a vocalist who belts out each note with every ounce of energy he has, and a musical outro that's absolutely insane.

"Souls for Sale" opens up with an effect-laden bass riff that is quickly supported by the head-banging entrance of the band. The song is fast, and the double-pedal bass drum is in full-effect. Heavy Metal Poetry pauses only to showcase a brief, blistering display of electric guitar work. Post guitar riff, all musicians again join together in riveting force, laying the foundation for the vocals to be offered by singer and lead guitarist Alex Rasmussen.

The lyrical message in "Souls for Sale" is best described by the song's title. Rasmussen sings, "Your contract binds tomorrow. Release your rage and sorrow. The deed is done now sign the deal. Your soul's for sale." Rasmussen's vocal delivery is intense, energetic, and alive. I can best describe him as a singer/screamer who throws in the occasional trademark vocal vibrato. His vocal style is distinct and is a perfect fit for the high-intensity performance of these phenomenal musicians.

Closing out "Souls for Sale" is a virtuoso guitar solo and musical jam worthy of any major stadium audience. Supporting Rasmussen's vocal and lead guitar skills are instrumentalists Jake (Monk) Gregg (guitar), Pete Yore (bass, backing vocals), and Eric Jelsing (drums). Turn it up. This extended musical ending is well worth any hearing loss you may endure.

Heavy Metal Poetry's loud, feverish, and skilled delivery of their song "Souls for Sale," from the All Hands On Deck EP, is something metal fans will definitely appreciate. Throw your fists in the air. This song kicks ass.
