Dave Matthews Can Bench Press 165 lbs

My friend called me up and said, “Guess who I met at the gym today in Cincinnati?” I said, “I dunno.” He asked me if I knew who was playing a concert this weekend, and I of course said, “Dave.” "That’s it,” he replied. I was  extremely jealous, as Dave Matthews is a huge influence of mine.

My friend didn’t bug Dave for autographs, nor did he offer to spot him on his 165lb bench press (I made the weight up). My friend did suggest to me that since Dave was in town two nights for two shows, there’d be a possibility he’d be back at the gym tomorrow. We would try to hook him up with one of my CD’s.

So I run a CD over to my buddy’s house late that night, and wished him luck on his stalking adventure. Next day, the phone rang. “Mission accomplished,” he said. I was rendered speechless. My new BEST FRIEND personally handed my CD to Dave at the gym. I even included a handwritten personal letter to Dave (because we’re such close friends). I encouraged him to call, but I’ve yet to hear from him.

That was 5 years ago. Still waiting, Dave! Call me!
