National Boycott Brown Eyed Girl Day

It's coming, we just don't know when. Everyone will be talking about it.

The concept is new and still needs hashed out. But it will happen.

Don't get me wrong. "Brown Eyed Girl" is a GREAT song. I loved it from the first time I heard it. Van Morrison is a legend. But for Pete's sake, if I get one more request to play this song at a gig, I'm going to snap.

Therefore, I am calling for a nationwide boycott of live performances of "Brown Eyed Girl" unless of course you are Van Morrison himself. I've heard he's even sick of playing the tune.

Here's how it's done.

The Question: "Can you play, "Brown Eyed Girl?"

Your Answer: "I've heard the song, but I don't know how to play it."

Music fans, bar patrons, and fellow alcoholics - we musicians love to entertain you. We'd certainly love to be able to play our own originals all night long and get paid. However, we realize that on occasion, we must throw in some more familiar tunes. But please, for the LOVE OF THE GOOD LORD, request a song other than Brown Eyed Girl. "Brown Eyed Girl" is the number one most requested song for live bands in the history of the tip jar!

It must be stopped - if just for one day.

We here at Listeners' Generation will be gathering feedback amongst our fans and determining an official day to hold nationwide boycott of performing, 'Brown Eyed Girl."

If you're with us, send us an e-mail.

If you have other suggestions for songs that should be boycotted, send them along too.

If you're Van Morrison, please chime in with your thoughts as well.
